Position Description Head of Marketing and Communications Key Objective To lead and integrate the strategic direction of marketing, communications, development, and enrolment at Rangi Ruru Girls School, ensuring alignment with the schools vision and growth objectives. Position Overview The Head of Marketing and Communications is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping and delivering the strategic direction of Rangi Ruru Girls Schools marketing, communications, development, and enrolment functions. With a strong focus on storytelling, engagement, and brand integrity, this role plays a critical part in advancing the schools reputation, enrolment growth, and community partnerships.
Leading a high-performing and collaborative team, the position requires vision, influence, and a commitment to fostering meaningful connections across all aspects of school life, internally and externally. Reports to The Principal and Senior Management Team (member of) Direct Reports Communications Manager Enrolments Manager Development and Sponsorship Executive Events Manager Rangi Ruru Old Girls Association Co-ordinator Key relationships Chairperson and Members of the Board Engagement Committee Community Relations Team donors and sponsors External providers and suppliers Staff Students All RR Stakeholders, including PTA and RROGA IT Team Directors of: Sport, Music, Theatre Arts Grounds and Maintenance staff Catering staff Responsibilities Leadership & Strategic Oversight Lead and support all Direct Report Managers by providing guidance, mentorship, and oversight to ensure alignment with the Schools strategic direction. Lead the induction, training, and performance management of the Community Relations Team, including identifying future staffing needs in consultation with the Principal.
Foster collaboration and clarity of purpose across the team. Cultivate a positive, high-performing team culture that attracts and retains quality staff. Conduct annual performance reviews and identify professional development opportunities.
Strengthen the Community Relations Office by: Maintaining regular communication with the Principal and Senior Management Team, keeping them informed of key developments across events, marketing, development and communications. Developing and managing the annual plan and budget; providing quarterly reports to the Board and a comprehensive annual review of the previous year. Continuously improving systems and workflows to ensure efficiency and excellence.
Supporting stakeholder engagement aligned with the schools vision and strategic goals. Marketing, Communications & Brand Management Lead the development, execution, and continuous improvement of an integrated marketing, communications, engagement, and public relations strategy that advances the Schools vision, enhances brand reputation, and elevates its presence within the education sector and broader community. Manage the marketing and communications budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.
