We are a family farm based approximately 40 mins from Invercargill and we are looking for an experienced Herd Manager to join our fantastic team. We milk 600 cows through a 30 aside Herringbone shed on a milking platform of 197 hectares of flat to easy rolling farm. You must have 2 years experience in New Zealand.
You role includes but is not limited to the following skills: Milking: Understands and implements efficient milking practices and keeps the farm dairy hygienic. Records health treatments and solves milk quality Animals: Diagnoses common ailments and treats accordingly. Competent in all aspects of calving and reproduction, e.
g. observation, recording and submitted on heat cows Feed: Implements best practice for pasture, crop and supplement management for optimal quality and utilisation. Environment: Understands regulations and management of nutrients, effluent and water and their most efficient use.
People: Trains junior employees in simple skills. Developing communication and reporting skills. Machine, Vehicles and Technology: Safely uses and maintains vehicles on farm as directed by on farm policy.
Health, safety and wellbeing: Models a health, safety and wellbeing culture, records accidents and identifies farm hazards and biosecurity issues. 2 bedroom house to rent on farm Roster 6 days on 1 day off Aug/Sept then 6 on 2 off for the remainder of the year.
