Te Kowhiringa | The Opportunity Within the Business, the Leading Hand directs and controls the activities and operations of a crew on a day-to-day basis, optimising the use of company resources and contributing to the successful completion of contracts i.e. customers are satisfied, and all targets (Safety, Quality, Environment, Productivity and profit) are achieved.
Key competencies: Supervises and coordinates the activities of workers engaged in construction and maintenance. Ensures projects are completed within set deadlines and to the required specification. Manages documentation, health, and safety, and training of staff.
The core responsibilities of the role will include; Operations: Direct and control activities of crew on a day-to-day basis in accordance with project plans and targets. Ensure regular programme / resource and productivity meetings are held with the Site supervisor to allocate tasks to staff and ensure they operate safely and efficiently. Customer and Public Relations: Liaise indirectly with client directly through the Site Forman as required to ensure work is carried out to the client's satisfaction and meets company standards.
Liaise with the public as required, documenting and reporting any concerns or requests to the Site Supervisor Staff Management: Assist the Project Manager / Site Supervisor in the selection, coaching and development of staff. Provide onsite coaching and skill development to staff, ensuring a SQE focus is developed and maintained. People Development: Helps the individuals in their team to set clear targets for their area of responsibility and provides support and coaching to achieve these.
Nga Pukenga Motuhake | Important Skills At least 3 years of relevant work experience in a similar role is required and demonstrated knowledge of environmental protection principles. The following would be beneficial for the role but not required: Supervision of and working with construction teams to achieve excellence in delivery Survey knowledge including ability to calculate reduced levels and complete basic levelling on site.
