About the role The Senior Lecturer will be responsible in delivering exceptional teaching and supervision across our Master of Software Engineering (MSE) programme, with a focus on Research Methods and student project supervision. You will be responsible for ensuring an optimal learning environment by providing high-quality instruction, fostering intellectual independence, and supporting students in achieving academic and professional success through cutting-edge research and practical guidance. Note: This is a part-time fixed-term contract (0.

4 FTE) finishing up at the end of December 2025. Work will involve 15 hours per week. Key Responsibilities will include: Designing and delivering high-quality lectures for the Research Methods course, focusing on academic research, technical writing, and project methodologies relevant to software engineering.

Supervising MSE capstone projects, guiding students in research planning, execution, and technical reporting. Ensuring the Research Methods course remains current, cutting-edge, and reflective of disciplinary expertise in software engineering, validated through quality assurance processes. Leading tutorials and workshops that foster problem-solving skills and hands-on application of research methodologies.

Contributing to the ongoing development of the Research Methods curriculum to ensure its relevance and effectiveness within the MSE programme. Designing and delivering appropriate student assessments and providing effective and timely feedback. Grading and assessing student work, including research proposals, capstone submissions, and internship reports.

Required Skills/Experience Currently hold (or currently pursuing) PhD degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely aligned discipline, with a demonstrated record of expertise in research methodologies. Knowledge of current trends and practices in software engineering, including research methodologies, technical writing, and project execution. Familiarity with emerging software engineering trends (e.

g., AI, data analytics, or intelligent systems) is preferred. Experience participating in innovative research programmes relevant to business analytics.

Effective networking skills to maintain links with current practice in the professional arena to provide opportunities for students in business analytics. Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate and effectively communicate with faculty, staff, and students. Understanding of student learning and effective teaching and supervision methods.

Commitment to contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community. Must have evidence of student project supervision and prior teaching or industry experience in software engineering or related fields. Experience mentoring students in capstone projects or internship-based initiatives is highly desirable.
