Krero m te tranga - About the role Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a permanent, full-time Pkenga - Lecturer or Pkenga Matua - Senior Lecturer in Information Systems to join Te Kura Tiaki, Whakawhiti Krero - School of Information Management. The role will involve teaching courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, as well as developing an independent research agenda and supervising research students. The successful applicant is also expected to assist with the development of programme curriculum and to take on appropriate service roles within the school in contribution to its effective operation and management.
We are preferably seeking a candidate with a current legal right to work in New Zealand and who can ideally start in mid-August 2025. Key responsibilities: Teaching courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. Developing an independent research agenda and the supervision of research students.
Contributing to hauttanga/leadership, the taking on of appropriate administration service roles and engaging in the wider community. Assisting with the administration and development of programme curriculum. Being part of an active, collegial team committed to equity and diversity, and aspiring to research and teaching that engages mtauranga Mori, and upholds our responsibilities to te Tiriti o Waitangi.
pmanawa - About you The successful applicant will be an enthusiastic teacher and researcher, with experience and publications commensurate with the level of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer. You will be passionate about learning and teaching and interacting with a diverse range of students as well as appreciate the importance of Ako (reciprocal learning and teaching), in a tertiary environment. Your enthusiasm to actively engage in appropriate service roles, along with your growth mindset and interpersonal skills, will contribute to the vision and ongoing development of the School, its activities, and programmes as it moves forward.
Key requirements: A completed PhD in Information Systems or a related area. However, we also welcome applications from candidates who are close to completion of their doctoral studies. The ability and experience to teach a range of different courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels is highly desirable, but some teaching experience at a tertiary level is key.
A developing record of scholarly research, publications, and a research agenda. Evidence of emerging engagement with industry, professions, or diverse communities. Ability to work as part of a collegial team.
