Description The Welfare and Self-Reliance Department is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to be based at the Pacific Area Office in Takapuna, Auckland. This is a permanent, full-time position reporting to the Area Welfare and Self-Reliance Manager. The Senior Data Analyst will be responsible for providing department leadership with reliable data from trusted source systems and generating strategic insights to support informed decision-making.
This role plays a critical part in shaping the departments data strategy, ensuring data integrity, and driving data-informed initiatives. In collaboration with senior department leadership and ICS, the Senior Data Analyst will contribute to and help define strategic priorities related to data and reporting needs of the organisation.ization.
Responsibilities Partner with senior leadership to define and implement strategic data and reporting initiatives Work with structured and unstructured data from multiple systems to deliver actionable insights Lead efforts in data governance, security, modelling, and dashboard/report design Oversee continuous improvement in data quality, accessibility, and usability Validate data sources for reliability, completeness, and statistical validity Develop and maintain dashboards and reports that tell compelling data stories Ensure secure and appropriate data access for various audiences Mentor and potentially lead a team of analysts and data assistants Recommend data tools and resources Qualifications Bachelors degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in data validation, quality assessment, and dashboard/report configuration Certification in data management, data quality, or data visualization is preferred Proficiency in Business Objects, Tableau, SQL, PowerBI, and R Strong data storytelling and executive presentation skills Proven ability to work with senior leaders and influence strategic decisions Experience in cross-departmental collaboration and governance initiatives Self-starter with excellent problem-solving and debugging skills Ability to deliver projects independently and meet deadlines with minimal oversight Please note that only candidates who have legal work eligibility to hold employment in New Zealand should apply and that this job posting may close at any time without prior notice..
