Juken New Zealand Ltd (JNL) is an international forest and wood products company operating in local and global timber markets. JNL owns four wood processing plants in the North Island, and forests in the Wairarapa and East Coast regions. We work closely with our parent company in Japan WoodOne.
The two mills situated in Kaitaia are currently working a 5 day / 24 hr operation processing Radiata Pine into reconstituted wood panels and peeled, dried veneer. An opportunity has now become available for an experienced and motivated individual to join the business in the position of Maintenance Foreman based at our Northland Mill located in Kaitaia. This is a waged position working 5 days per week.
Key Responsibilities include: - Perform all duties in a manner that ensure the safety of self and other personnel on site. - Assist in the identification, elimination and control of on-site hazards, non-conformances and corrective actions. - Day-to-day running of the mechanical workshop and supervision of staff, including shift fitters - Planning and developing work schedules, priority of mechanical expenditure, and procedures for equipment and appliance maintenance.
- Preparing and monitoring the acquisition and use of material including labour estimates - Maintaining and monitoring time, work order, material, equipment, and other mechanical records. - Allocation of mechanical work to JNL staff and approved contractors as required. - Scheduling, assigning, planning, and monitoring the work of mechanical personnel - To ensure compliance with ISO9000/ISO14000 quality and environmental management systems The ideal candidate will have: - Relevant tertiary qualifications and a minimum of 5 years experience - 5-7 years experience in mechanical industry - Strong organising and prioritising skills - High level analytical and strategic planning skills - The ability to manage and supervise strategy and policy implementation - Strong communication & relationship management skills - Good problem solving & analytical skills - Excellent interpersonal and people management skills are essential - A willingness to learn and to work - A good attendance record - Reliable transportation Apart from experiencing the numerous stunning beaches, excellent fishing, walking tracks and wonderful hidden treasures of the Far North, we also offer a friendly work environment with lots of variety and challenges.
