We have a dedicated team of Field Technicians, Designers and Engineers together with the latest technology and high-quality machinery provide civil and undergrounding services. The Role: The objective of the Operator/Locator is to carry out direction from the Build Supervisor to ensure works are completed as per the design/scope/contract. As a Drill Operator, you will operate/locate drills to install, repair and maintain utilities including fibre, water and power.
You will need to be confident in drill operation and/or locating. Being physically fit with an excellent work ethic and be happy to jump on the end of a shovel as required to help the team is a must. You will be based in our Hamilton Horotiu Branch but may be required to work in multiple locations.
Minimum guaranteed hours of work 40 per week. FIXED TERM - 3 MONTHS Tasks include: Operate the directional drill or other equipment to complete build works as detailed by the drawings and to our clients standards. Ensure all prestart documentation, permits, quality assurance, and compliance documentation is completed.
Including supporting others to complete their required documentation. Perform and deliver work activity as per agreed designs and project specifications. Locate services and interpret utility plans.
Monitor drilling progress and make necessary adjustments to ensure optimal performance and alignment with project objectives. Conduct routine inspections and perform preventative maintenance on directional drilling machinery. Collaborate effectively with the team to efficiently and safely achieve project goals.
Undertake any other tasks to support the overall Civtec business as required from time to time. Ensure the site is always safe for the public and staff. Ensure compliance to both Civtec and Client standards.
Works primarily outdoors at external sites which may be at any location in the Waikato, Taranaki, Bay of Plenty, Central North Island and Auckland regions, on public and/or private property at numerous sites. To be successful in this role, we are seeking candidates with: Minimum 3 years Experience operating a directional drill / locating or have a level 7 Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Proven experience in Directional Drill machine operation and/or locating (preferred). Ability to interpret project service plans and technical documentation relevant to directional drilling.
Ability to read the location of other utilities on civil works detailed plans. Proven experience labouring within civil teams. WTR Endorsement Physically fit.
Willingness to take direction and learn. A Full Driver's License is required.
