About Southern Cross Horticulture We are recruiting for our client Southern Cross Horticulture. SCH is driven by a mission to create and manage the worlds best kiwifruit orchards. They are known for their incredible developments and for delivering industry leading productive outcomes from the orchards they own & manage.
Family owned for over 40 years, the team at SCH are inspired by the opportunity to add value to each other, their customers, stakeholders and the community. From the moment you walk in the door, or onto an orchard, the first thing you'll notice is the kind of people SCH attracts; they are humble and approachable, completely without pretense. They know their stuff and have put the effort in to become world class in their roles, and they are focused on making every development and every orchard world class.
What does SCH actually do? Primarily across the Bay of Plenty, SCH manages hundreds of hectares of Gold and Red kiwifruit. In addition they are one of the largest developers of new orchards in the industry. Check them out at www.
southerncrosshorticulture.co.nz That's where this role comes in! About the role This role will be onsite at SCH developments across the BOP.
While most of the work is likely to be around the Paengaroa, Maketu, Pukehina area, there are projects that are further afield. We are open to people who don't quite fit the mold. We can work out with you if the experience and skills you do have could work for the role, but if we were to sum up what we're hoping to find in three areas, they would be: Experience with physical outdoor work | This team works through most weather conditions and entirely outside.
If you don't like the cold or wet (or sun for that matter!), this might not be for you. Practical mindset | You will have worked with your hands and have a good mind for practical work and practical challenges. Some good mechanical aptitude will help a lot! Working at heights | This role involves quite a lot of working at heights, largely on hydraladas.
You'll need to be comfortable with this, and if you've done this type of work before, that's even better! There are a number of elements to carrying out this role to the SCH standard, including: Total Reliability: the team rely on people showing up, ready to work and with the right attitude to get it done and have some fun along the way. You'll be known for being dependable and want to bring that to SCH! Attention to Detail and Open Communication: as you learn, you'll take a real interest in what a good outcome looks like. If you see anything that could cause an issue later, or isn't right, you'll speak up and make sure it's dealt with early.
Following Instructions and Staying Safe: you'll be good at listening and learning. And due to the physical nature of the work, and heights and the environment, you'll be good at following safety requirements and ensuring others around you do too. It's all about doing great work and enjoying the process.
A bad attitude toward.
