Tnei tranga - About the Role: We're looking for a talented Policy professional to join our Tourism Policy team. In this role you will have the opportunity to: * Tackle interesting policy issues as we are working to grow our Tourism sector. * Analyse evidence and insights and develop high-quality written advice to Ministers with opportunities to work on the full spectrum of policy levers including strategy, funding and regulatory interventions.
* Collaborate with colleagues across government and regularly engage with the tourism sector. * Bring a creative approach to problem solving and a strong attention to detail to ensure we continue to produce work of the highest quality. * Join a dedicated branch and a supportive, engaging team environment.
About the Team Tourism is primarily a regional activity. The Government aims to strengthen our stewardship of the tourism system and work actively with iwi, hap and tangata whenua, local government, industry, businesses, regions and communities to shape future growth, manage its impact and better coordinate investments. Our team work closely with partners across Aotearoa to bring a national perspective to the challenges of tourism, including the impact on communities and the environment.
This includes: * Supporting destinations to help manage the flow and volume of visitors. * Working closely with local government and tourism industry organisations and other partners on topics related to regional tourism. * Developing policy responses to protect and enhance areas of national significance.
* Supporting regions affected by natural disasters, from a tourism perspective. Ng pukenga me ng wheako e hiahiatia ana - Skills and Experience Required * Have a good base of experience in public policy as a Policy Advisor or similar role. * Be a logical thinker and problem solver with a healthy level of curiosity.
* Bring knowledge of policy development disciplines and processes. * Enjoy working on complex problems, generating ideas and coming up with solutions. * Have the ability to build relationships with others and work collaboratively.
* The ability to work through ambiguity and deliver results. * Clear concise communication skills (written and verbal). * Strong analytical skills.
* A relevant tertiary qualification. * Must be a New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resi.
