The School supports graduate and postgraduate programmes in Physical and Human Geography and Environmental Management, as well as Planning and International Development. Our aim is to deliver globally relevant teaching and research from our unique location in Aotearoa New Zealand. The role / Te mahi Te Iho Whenua, the School of Geography seeks to appoint a skilled and versatile Professional Practice Fellow specialising in Spatial Data and Geospatial Technologies, to support and enhance the Schools teaching, research, and technical infrastructure.
In this position you will play a key role in delivering practical teaching modules, managing spatial data systems, and supporting the Schools use of GIS, UAVs, GNSS, and cartographic tools. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with technical expertise, teaching experience, and a passion for geographic technologies. Skills and experience / K pkeka me k wheako To be successful in this role candidates should hold a tertiary qualification in geography, environmental science, geospatial science, or a closely related field.
Demonstrated experience working with spatial data analysis, geospatial technologies, or applied GISparticularly in research or academic environmentsis desirable. Candidates are also expected to have: Demonstrated capability with GIS, GNSS, and UAV operations, including proven proficiency using geospatial software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, Pix4D, Agisoft and QPS tools, as well as qualitative software such as SoftGIS. Practical understanding of spatial data infrastructure and geospatial hardware/software systems.
An ability to contribute to training or teaching in geospatial methods. Strong interpersonal skills and a willingness to work with students and staff fro.
