12 Month Fixed Term - Full Time Position (40 hours) Based in Rotorua, New Zealand Scion is a Crown Research Institute at the centre of scientific research and technology development for forestry, wood products, wood-derived materials, and other biomaterial sectors. We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to provide accurate and timely financial information and support to meet the financial requirements of the organisation. A key focus of this role will be supporting Scion's financial auditing and systems integration into the new Public Research Organisation (for more information regarding this transition, please visit the MBIE website). About the role: Reporting to the Finance Manager, key focus areas of this role are: Preparation of key financial statements, reports and reconciliation Support for external reporting and compliance obligations including tax Assistance with cashflow forecasting and balance sheet accuracy Maintaining financial data integrity and ensuring accurate posting of journals Supporting budget processes and long term financial planning activities To be successful in this role, your skills and experience will include: A full member of CA ANZ or international equivalent with extensive technical experience Excellent analytical skills with the ability to resolve complex issues Excellent stakeholder engagement, able to build strong relationships to deliver outcomes Commitment to quality and timely service delivery Ability to communicate high level financial concepts in layman's terms Proactive ad able to anticipate needs, establish priorities, work under pressure and maintain strict confidentiality We are proud to offer: Opportunities for a fulfilling career that enables outcomes for New Zealand Flexible working options, including a 9-day fortnight! 4 weeks paid annual leave 3 paid company days Continuous professional development and exposure to a variety of projects across the business Enviable work environment, next to the Whakarewarewa Forest - bring your bike or walking shoes A demonstrated commitment to Good Employer/ EEO principles If this sounds like an opportunity you would like to explore, then we are keen to hear from you!
