* Review medical reports to make informed decisions * Regulatory role in the Safer Drivers team * Monday to Friday core business hours, no shift work Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity We have an opportunity for a Senior Licensing Officer to join our Safer Drivers team. In this role you will review and assess medical reports to make robust regulatory decisions to understand whether a person's medical condition impacts their ability to driver safely. In this role you will: * Review and interpret medical reports provided by health professionals * Assess risk and make informed, evidence-based decisions * Apply relevant legislation and policy to complex cases * Prepare high-quality documentation and maintain accurate records * Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support safe driving outcomes This is an office-based role in our Palmerston North office working core business hours.

To be successful in this role, you will bring: * Proven experience in risk assessment or decision-making roles * Confidence in interpreting complex information and applying legislation and policy * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * High attention to detail and sound judgement * Strong relationships building skills and the ability to create rapport, build credibility and influence a wide range of stakeholders You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Mori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Mori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector. Ko wai mtou | About us The purpose of Regulatory Services is to ensure the Land Transport Act is complied with by all land transport users hence ensuring the safety of the systems users and to: Provide oversight on the effectiveness of regulatory interventions on safety outcomes.
Inform relevant and responsive regulation by regular monitoring and review.Ensure effective compliance monitoring and management processes of regulated parties to enable system access for people, devices, and networks, by risk targeted and cost-effective regulatory management of the land transport system.The Safer Drivers team are the gatekeepers for assessing safety and harm of driver licence holders and course providers into the Land Transport system.
