Your day at NTT DATA The Senior Payroll Specialist is an advanced subject matter expert, responsible for proactively supporting the execution and processing of an end-to-end payroll function for NTT New Zealand and performs a wide range of more complex payroll tasks. This role will be responsible for management, direction, control and processing of the payroll function and all other payroll related duties. The Senior Payroll Specialist will administer the payroll including month-end consolidation and processing support as required.
What you'll be doing Key Responsibilities: Responsible for processing accurate and timely payroll for employees, including calculations, deductions, and adjustments. Responsible for the entry and maintenance of payroll data in payroll systems, ensuring accuracy and data integrity. Responsible for obtaining information from the relevant parties to onboard and offboard employees in the Payroll system, this may include People and Culture and IT Operations.
Liaise with People and Culture for administration of employee benefits, including deductions, enrolments and changes. Responsible for reconciling payroll data and resolving discrepancies to maintain data accuracy. Responsible for conducting regular audits of payroll records and reports to identify and address errors.
Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues, deductions, and payments. Leads the preparation of payroll reports, including pay statements, tax reports, and other relevant documents. Responsible for maintaining accurate payroll records, including employee information, earnings, deductions, and changes.
Contributes ideas for process improvements and automation to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy. Leads payroll-related projects, system upgrades, and process enhancements. Effectively communicate with People and Culture, Finance, and other departments to resolve payroll-related matters.
Stays updated on payroll regulations and best practices through ongoing learning. Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality and ethical behavior when handling sensitive payroll information. As required liaise with auditors regarding payroll records and processes.
Knowledge and Attributes: Advanced understanding of NZ payroll tax regulations, labour laws, and compliance requirements. Advanced knowledge of end-to-end payroll processes, including calculations, deductions, wage garnishments, and reporting. Advanced familiarity with tax withholding, reporting, and related compliance obligations.
Advanced proficiency in using payroll software and HRIS systems for accurate data management and reporting. Current payroll system is Affinity and HRIS.
