Description Te Tranga /About the role: Our Pareora site in Timaru is the second largest site in our Silver Fern Farms network, employing over 700 people in peak season. We are looking for a motivated, skilled Refrigeration Engineer to join our engineering team. Our Refrigeration Engineers can be involved in refrigeration projects and installation of new site equipment as well as a wide range of mechanical engineering applications across the refrigeration plants.

Our site operates both day and evening shifts. Our Refrigeration Engineers work a rotating shift of 45 hours per week, 7 days a week.

Te Mahi /Key Responsibilities: The Refrigeration Engineer is responsible for day-to-day operation of the refrigeration and water reticulation and various site services as required.
Undertake repairs and maintenance to plant equipment to minimise equipment failure. Ensure any plant breakdowns on equipment is back to full running capacity within the shortest time, whilst always ensuring yours and others health and safety. Ensuring the smooth operation of the refrigeration, ammonia, water reticulation, compressed air and other various site services Encourage a health and safety focussed culture through personal participation in H&S initiatives.
Food hygiene regulations are complied with when working in areas controlled by MPI regulations. u Pkenga /About You: Previous experience in Refrigeration, ammonia or transferrable production engineering environments would be an advantage, but the key is the ability to work as part of a team to ensure a stable refrigeration plant and when required, identify faults and use analytical and problem-solving skills to provide top level of service to the processing plant. The successful applicant will possess the following skills and attributes: Knowledgeable in the repair and maintenance of refrigeration systems (Preferably Ammonia Refrigeration System).
Cooling and heating equipment, such as chillers, cold rooms, cold storages, heat pumps and air compressors etc. Good knowledge of sound engineering principals and repairs and maintenance procedures on a large industrial processing site - or a passion to learn in this environment. Ability to analyse problems and implement effective solutions in a timely manner and communicate this with those around you.
