Were looking for a hands-on and dependable Substation Supervisor to oversee daily operations, maintenance, and project execution across critical substation infrastructure. You'll lead crews, manage contractors, and ensure safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of high-voltage operations.
Key Responsibilities: Operations and Maintenance Supervise day-to-day substation operations, respond to alarms, and monitor equipment performance Lead and manage technical teams in inspections, repairs, testing, and preventative maintenance Troubleshoot and resolve substation faults and system issues Coordinate with engineers, dispatchers, and operations staff to ensure seamless communication Maintain compliance with QA/QC standards and support audits and inspections Planning and Project Management Develop work plans, maintenance schedules, and set project priorities Supervise substation upgrades and construction activities Participate in budget planning, resource allocation, and cost control Engage and liaise with vendors and contractors on substation projects Safety and Compliance Enforce safety protocols and lead daily toolbox talks and safety briefings Ensure compliance with industry regulations, standards, and environmental controls Provide on-the-job training and support for team development Participate in after-hours response for faults and outages Leadership and Communication Mentor and guide technicians and field teams Act as the primary liaison between engineering, project management, and site operations Drive a culture of performance, accountability, and proactive safety What You Bring: NZ-registered Electrician, Electrical Fitter, or Line Mechanic (HV switching ticket preferred) 5 years of experience in substation operations (11kV220kV), including supervisory experience Strong knowledge of substation systems: switchgear, transformers, protection, cabling, and testing Sound understanding of HSE legislation and compliance practices Excellent communication and coordination skills EWRB registration Why Join Us?
