We are seeking an experienced and people-focused Team Leader Access Services to lead a key operational team at the National Library and Archives New Zealand.
In this role, you will oversee the delivery of integrated management and logistics services across all Wellington-based collections, ensuring access services run smoothly, efficiently, and with a strong customer focus. You will work closely with other leaders and teams to enable access to collections, manage daily workflows, support reading room services, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. This role is essential to ensuring that the public, researchers, and other users can easily and reliably access New Zealands documentary heritage.
You will also play an important part in strengthening Mori access to Mtauranga Mori, and in fostering a positive and resilient team culture that upholds Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and the spirit of service. What were looking for Were seeking a collaborative and proactive leader with: Experience leading operational teams in a complex environment, with a strong focus on customer service Strong skills in logistics, workflow management, and resource planning A proven ability to build high performing, agile teams and foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement Knowledge or experience in the GLAM sector (Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums) is desirable but not essential Strong relationship management skills, with the ability to work collegially across teams and stakeholders An understanding of Mtauranga Mori and a commitment to improving Mori access to collections Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills The ability to work effectively with Mori, including the use of te reo Mori and tikanga practices, or a willingness to learn You will be solutions-focused, organised, and motivated to deliver outstanding services that connect people to New Zealands taonga.
