Job Description Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity The Department of Physics is home to New Zealands top-ranked physics programme, and our comprehensive research and stimulating teaching programmes are strengthened by a diverse technical team dedicated to fairness and equity. We are seeking a Technician to support our teaching and research in a role that involves development & maintenance of a diverse set of experiments in our teaching laboratories, coaching students working on physics experiments, providing mechanical and electronic support for research laboratories, and contributing to the health, safety, and wellbeing of staff and students. Ideal candidates will have: A degree in physics or a closely related discipline (e.g. engineering).

Enthusiasm towards experimental physics and hands-on physics teaching. Practical work experience gained on the job or while studying. Experience designing equipment including mechanical and electronic design.

Strong computer literacy. Communication skills and cross-cultural competency. This is a permanent, full-time 1 FTE ( 37.

5 hours per week ) role. Remuneration range is $60,500 $69,600 per annum, dependent on skills and experience More information about this role is available in the Position Description M t mtou rp | About the team Within the Department of Physics, the Technical Services team are a close working team of 4 technical staff supporting key academic staff in the delivery of teaching programs and research. They are an integral part of the Technical Services team of approximately 100 technical staff supporting Departments across the Faculty maintaining the operation and compliance of a vast range of laboratories, workshops, teaching facilities, research equipment, vehicles, and boats.
