Krero m te tranga - About the role The Robinson Research Institute is seeking a fixed-term, full-time experienced Laboratory Technician to work on development of new minerals characterisation/beneficiation techniques, for critical minerals sourced from NZ ores, tailing and recycled feedstocks. The Robinson Research Institute has an international reputation for superconducting engineering, materials physics and manufacturing engineering. We offer a unique opportunity for a high-achieving technician to work alongside some of NZs top research scientists and engineers and contribute to a range of cutting-edge research projects that involve the development of new concepts in materials and manufacturing - from discovery science through to commercial implementation.

Experience of working in some or all of the following areas would be advantageous: Understanding of minerals sampling methodologies. Familiarity with laboratory techniques for minerals beneficiation tests (e.g.

magnetic, flotation, electrostatic, density etc). Minerals characterisation via microscopy and x-ray techniques. Day-to-day operation and maintenance of laboratory X-ray instruments (XRF and XRD).

Quantitative powder-XRD analysis of mineral-derived inorganic materials. Mentoring and support for students and laboratory trainees. Preparation and delivery of sample characterisation reports to commercial customers.
