You will provide intensive clinical treatment services to children, young people and their families with complex mental health, behavioural and/or emotional needs and enable them to thrive in their communities.
You will deliver the evidence-based model (Functional Family Therapy) for families of young people aged 0 - 18 years within the family's home environment across the Auckland region, so travel is an absolute requirement of this role. Functional Family Therapy (FFT) is a well-established, evidence-based whnau support programme available for whnau of rangatahi who have come to the attention of either government or non-government organisations due to concerns related to youth- or parent-related risk factors. At Kia Puwai, we offer 3 versions of the FFT programme.
FFT-Standard, our original programme, has been provided to the community for almost 15 years. The referral to FFT-Standard often comes through Oranga Tamariki because of youth-related risk factors. Within this programme, we work with whnau of rangatahi between the ages of 10 and 18.
FFT-Cross Generations or Pae Whakatupuranga is an adaptation of the FFT-Standard programme that is designed to support whnau of rangatahi and young adults between the ages of 10 to 24 years. Referrals to this service is received through Youth Justice, Police, or Corrections. FFT-Child Welfare is our latest offering in the suite of FFT services.
This service aims to support whnau where there are risk factors related to the parent or parental figures. Where there are concerns related to the welfare of tamariki or rangatahi (ages 0 to 18), a referral to this service can be made by any government or community agency, GP, DHB services, or even by the whnau themselves.
