Trainee Patient Services Casual Auckland Who we are | Ko wai mtou: Awanui Labs is a part of Awanui Group, the largest network of human and veterinary pathology laboratories in New Zealand. Our team of specialist pathologists, scientists, technicians, phlebotomists, couriers, and shared services personnel deliver a world-class service that together collects, analyses, and reports over 7 million patient results annually.

Our Patient Services Department is responsible for the collection of blood samples and handling contained specimens, i.e., human blood, faeces, urine, tissue etc from patients within the community and the hospital.

These samples are then processed and tested in our state-of-the-art medical laboratory. About the role | M te tranga: Our Patient Services Department is currently looking for dedicated and enthusiastic Trainee. This is a casual trainee position with flexible hours and hours may vary week to week.

This role is based across multiple locations including on the coast, Warkworth, Orewa, and Whangaparoa area. Responsibilities include: The key tasks include blood collection, responsible for handling contained specimens, i.e.

, human blood, faeces, and tissue, and preparing specimens for transportation. Provide professional customer service, and serve as a link between health professionals, their patients, and the laboratory. About you | He krero mu A positive and friendly approach to your work and demonstrate cultural and social sensitivity.

Compassion for others, including a real desire to provide high-quality care to a wide variety of patients of all ages and circumstances. Excellent customer service skills including a high level of personal presentation. Strong attention to detail and an ability to follow processes accurately, even when under pressure.

Respect for always ensuring patient confidentiality and in all matters. Good computer skills. Registration with the Medical Science Council and an Annual Practising Certificate as a Medical Laboratory Pre-Analytical Technician in Patient Services is desirable, but not essential.
