About the role An exciting opportunity to join the New Zealand Womans Weekly team, the writer role is an integral part within a tight knit omnichannel team on the country's most read womans title. You will be responsible for sourcing and crafting features that engage almost half a million readers every week. From high-profile celebrity interviews to heartwarming real-life stories, news events, lifestyle trends and international showbiz buzz, our content entertains, informs, influences and inspires.
We are looking for someone who thrives on finding and creating those engaging stories then delivering them with flair and journalistic integrity. It is a dynamic role in which no two weeks will be the same. One day you may be interviewing a celebrity or sports star about their big move.
The next, sharing an extraordinary story of survival against the odds or examining an issue affecting everyday New Zealanders. Duties Reporting to the Editor, the writer role will support the content strategy for the brand working collaboratively to achieve set objectives and KPIs. Ideate, pitch, secure and deliver high-quality, highly engaging content across key editorial pillars and platforms Keep your finger on the pulse of international showbiz, lifestyle trends and the issues that resonate with Kiwi readers and create features which reflect that. Collaborate with a passionate, experienced team and contribute to a positive, fast-paced newsroom culture.
Manage multiple deadlines and network contacts with professionalism and creativity. Skills and experience A skilled writer, ideally with a strong background in journalism, content creation or communications. Curious, confident and quick to spot a good story and exclusive angle.
