YOUTH WORKER Thames/Hauraki Fixed Term Parental Leave Cover Do you want to join a dynamic and supportive team? Do you have a passion to make a difference in the lives of local tamariki? On a daily basis the Youth Worker will meet with young people to help them identify and overcome barriers, influence positive change and support improved well-being. They will work collaboratively with other internal/external youth services, contributing to joint projects that support tamariki to achieve their goals. The right applicant will have the ability to relate to young people, be reliable, energetic and passionate about providing guidance, encouragement and practical support to assist young people to reach their potential.

The core skills required for this role are: Experience in supporting, mentoring and providing advocacy for children and young people The ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stake holders Experience in managing a caseload and/or excellent organisational skills Excellent interpersonal skills Computer competency (email, word, excel) Energy and drive to make a difference in the lives of tamariki Ability to run workshops and organise small events Full New Zealand Drivers License (essential) A good sense of humour and commitment to being part of a team Excellent verbal and written communication skills This position is classed as a Core Worker and will need to pass a safety check, inclusive of Police Vetting, under the Childrens Act 2014 CAPS offer a competitive salary package and a supportive team environment .
